NOTARY PUBLIC

A Notary Public is a qualified legal officer authorised by the government to perform a range of official acts witnessing the signing of documents, administering oaths and affirmations, certifying copies of documents, and verifying the identity of signatories. In the Cayman Islands, a Notary Public is appointed by the Government and acts as an impartial witness to protect against fraud and ensure the legal validity of important documents.

Ideas Business notarises a wide range of documents including contracts and agreements, powers of attorney, affidavits, statutory declarations, immigration documents, corporate documents, property and land transfer documents, and personal identification documents. If you are unsure whether your document qualifies, please contact us before your appointment.

Notarisation involves a Notary Public witnessing the signing of a document and verifying the identity of the signatory. Certification involves a Notary Public confirming that a copy of an original document is a true and accurate reproduction. Both services are legally recognised and frequently required for local and international use. Legalization is a formal confirmation by a government authority that a document was issued by one of its public officials, such as a notary or registrar. This process often involves an apostille under the Hague Convention or additional certification by a consulate for non-Hague countries.

No. For notarisation purposes, documents must be signed in the presence of the Notary Public. Please bring your unsigned documents to your appointment along with valid photo identification.

Yes. We regularly notarise documents intended for use in foreign jurisdictions. If your document needs to be used internationally, please let us know at the time of booking so we can advise on any additional steps required, including Apostille certification where applicable.

An Apostille is an official government certification that authenticates a public document for use in countries that are members of the Hague Convention. If your notarised document needs to be used in another country, it may require an Apostille in addition to the notarisation. Ideas Business can advise you on this process.
